Denver International Airport (DEN), commonly referred to as DIA, is the second-largest airport by land area and the largest one in North America. The airport primarily serves Colorado, metropolitan Denver, and the greater Front Range Urban Corridor and has non-stop operations to around 215 destinations. With 33,741,129 passengers using its service, Dia Parking was the eighth busiest airport globally in terms of passenger traffic, bettering its position from 16th in 2019. With the airport getting busier every year, you must plan ahead to get comfortable Denver airport parking.

Denver airport parking offers short-term and long-term parking at its parking lots and offers around 44,000 parking spaces. The number sounds great, but it isn’t easy to get Denver airport parking if you don’t plan your trip properly. Especially with some of the parking lots closed, getting an onsite parking spot would be difficult if you don’t book in advance. Don’t worry; you can use offsite parking spaces or garages at affordable rates if Denver airport parking spaces run out.

Onsite Denver airport parking

Denver airport parking allows parking at Garage lots, Economy lots, Short Term parking lots, and Shuttle lots. The Garage East and West parking lots are located near the eastern and western sides of the Jeppesen Terminal. Both the garages have five levels for parking and cost $5 for hourly parking. Daily parking at the Garage parking lots will charge you $28. Both East and West parking lots offer covered and uncovered parking; however, no shuttle service is available. The Garage lots also offer accessible parking on all levels except Level 3. Level 1 of both Garage lots also features designated parking spots for hybrid vehicles and features electric charging stations.

Economy lots

The Economic lots are the best option if you wish to have affordable Denver airport parking within walking distance to the terminal. The East and West Economy lots are located behind the Garage East parking. You could get a parking spot in the Economy lots for $5 per hour. Economic lots are beneficial for long-term parking as it offers daily parking for $17 a day. The rate comes down to $15 after the third day. So, if you are leaving Denver for a long period and wish to have safe and comfortable parking, these lots will be the best to be considered. Free shuttle service is available for the departing passengers every 10 minutes throughout the day. Also, arriving passengers will be picked from the DEN Transit Center.

Short Term parking lots

Short Term East and West parking lots are ideal for passengers if you plan to spend less time in the airport to pick up or drop someone. The Short Term East and West lots are located on Level 4 (Arrivals Level) of Garage East and West lots. This Denver airport parking lot offers covered parking and has easy access to the Jeppesen Terminal. Hourly parking at this lot charges you $6. The daily parking rate charges you a whopping $144, so it is always good to only use these lots for short-term parking alone.

Closed lots

Shuttle lots — Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert, offers short-term and long-term parking. These lots, along with the Valet parking in Garage East and West, are currently closed. When open, Shuttle lots charge you $2 per hour and daily parking at $8 a day. There are around 17,500 parking spaces under Shuttle lots, and the other Denver airport parking spaces will experience a heavy rush since these are closed. You can always check for affordable offsite parking spaces if the onsite parking spaces get sold out.

Offsite parking

You could choose an offsite parking space if the Denver airport parking spaces get fully booked, or parking charges are high. One way is to choose hotel parking near the airport. You could book a parking spot in a hotel even if you aren’t staying there. One advantage of choosing offsite parking spaces is that you could get them at affordable rates with gated parking, 24 hours surveillance, and round-the-clock security. Park2Fly DEN Airport parking, Canopy Airport Parking, Park N Fly, Quality Inn and Suites, Marriott Denver, and Residence Inn Denver Airport Parking are some of the offsite garages and hotel parking you could try out. You could use their apps or websites to get hourly parking starting at $4, or use the Way.com app or website to get attractive parking rates.

61st and Peña

This parking lot is located on RTD’s University of Colorado A Line. It offers around 800 parking spaces (609 beneath canopies) and can be only used by prepaying. Parking here costs you $3 for 12 hours and $6 for a day. The parking lot is connected to Denver airport via A Line commuter rail, which can be used by paying $10.50. This lot also offers accessible parking spaces. Eleven free electric vehicle charging stations are available in the lot that can be used on a first-come, first-serve basis. Make sure you reach early to the lot as parking is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the lot experiences a heavy rush during peak travel times.

Free Denver airport parking

If you’re going there to pick up someone and don’t wish to pay for parking, the cell-phone waiting lot named ‘Final Approach’ is the apt Denver airport parking space. Around 253 parking spaces are available in the cell phone waiting lot, offering free Wi-Fi, indoor restrooms, and flight information display boards.

Additional Denver airport parking services

Some passengers might feel difficult to track their vehicle on returning. The airport’s website has the ‘Remember where I parked’ feature that allows you to record your parking location. When returned, you could access this feature, and it will lead you to the spot.

Choosing between a DIA airport parking an offsite parking spot depends on the parking rate at that time. The Parking Fee Estimator on the airport’s website will give you a clear idea of the parking cost in airport garages based on the date and time you choose. The feature helps you choose the right parking space in advance, providing a hassle-free ride to the airport.
